Watch: Drunk Man, Stuck Inside Drain Pipe, Rescued By Locals And Noida Police

The instances of consumption of liquor in public places and creating nuisances have become quite common nowadays. While locals often raise complaints against such drunkards, the police are also required to intervene at certain points. Such was the scenario in Noida recently when the police joined hands with locals to rescue a drunk man from a drainpipe.

With an effort to “Sweep trouble from the torrent,”, the official police handle shared a video of the rescue operation and added, “In response to an early morning #Dial112 call about an intoxicated man who fell into a 30-foot-long fast-flowing drainpipe, #noidapolice quickly reached the spot and successfully rescued him with the help of locals.”

In the video, a crowd can be seen gathered around the drain while a couple of officers make efforts to rescue the man. Reportedly, locals heard the man’s call for help from inside the drainpipe, prompting them to inform the police. The rescuers stepped inside the drain and tried clearing the way to allow the man to come up. After several minutes of effort, they could finally rescue the drunk man.

Social media users instantly reacted to the video, lauding the department’s quick response to the distress call. A user wrote, “Good job local people, good job police,” while another commented, “Good job up police.”

“The credit goes to the locals.. They rescued the man and the cops are posing for video only. The Indian police are equipped with powers but they don’t save people,” another user wrote, while one added, “Locals who helped the police are the true heroes.”

The video has garnered more than 1,00,000 views along with over 8,000 likes and several comments so far.

This is not the first time that a police department has come forward in such cases. Earlier in April, a drunk man got his neck trapped between the gap of a bench in Kanpur’s Ramlila Park. However, he was lucky to have alerted police officers nearby who came to his rescue and helped him out. According to Free Press Journal, the man in an inebriated state got his neck stuck on the bench while he was sleeping there.
