Watch: Baby Rhino Tries To Intimidate Wildebeest Before Running Back To Its Mother

It captures a baby Rhinoceros chasing wildebeest in a dense unnamed forest. Witnessing the calf’s mischievous actions with a species double its size is bound to crack you up.

The now-viral footage was dropped on X (formerly Twitter) on May 24. “A baby rhino playfully charging a wildebeest before running back to mom,” read the note. The clip features the baby rhino hopping its way towards a wildebeest, grazing at a distance. It stops at a proximity to the gnus and attempts to charge at the large animal. The calf’s high-spirited actions alert the wildebeest who takes position in full attack mode, presumably fearing that the baby rhino might pose a threat.

The calf remains unfazed by the wildebeest’s attacking stance and continues to hop playfully around the animal. Sometime later, the wildebeest takes a step back, and the baby rhino imitates it. When the gnus gallops away, the calf charges it again but changes the decision when it finds the wildebeest holding its ground and not budging, indicating that it is now unafraid of the baby rhino. Sensing a probable danger, the calf retraces its steps back to its mother and finally leaves the wildebeest alone.

The lovely video received a flurry of reactions from social media users, who could not help but gush at the baby rhino. “Good job wildebeest. It looked like it knew the baby was playing,” guessed one individual. Sharing a clip of a rhino calf trying to climb upon an adult one, a person pointed out, “Baby rhinos are playful little guys and love to pester anyone and everyone.” “Enough training for day 1.
