An Indian techie made a startling revelation that one of his colleagues — Saurabh Netravalkar, working in software firm Oracle — would be representing the USA in the T20 World Cup 2024. Earlier this month, the USA announced their 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup. Nearly half of the USA players are of Indian origin, including captain Monank Patel.

The software engineer named Chirag took to ‘X’ to reveal his surprising realisation. 32-year-old Saurabh Netravalkar, who played U19 World Cup for India in 2010, has been juggling his job and his cricket career in the USA.

“Just found out in my company there is a guy who played the Under 19 Cricket World Cup for India back in 2010 and now lives in US, works in Oracle, and is gonna be playing T20 WC next month for the USA,” he wrote on ‘X’.

Another Oracle techie said: “Just looked him up on Slack and couldn’t believe it.”

Who is Saurabh Netravalkar?

Netravalkar is a left-arm pacer who was born in Mumbai on October 16, 1991. He also featured for the Washington Freedom in the inaugural edition of Major League Cricket (MLC).

Netravalkar also represented India in the U-19 World Cup in 2010 alongside KL Rahul, Jaydev Unadkat and Mayank Agarwal. He made his First-Class debut for Mumbai in 2013.

He moved to the USA due to lack of opportunities and did his Master’s degree in Computer Science from Cornell University. Netravalkar made his debut for the USA in 2019 and has played 48 ODI matches and picked 73 wickets. In the T20Is for the USA, Netravalkar has scalped 24 wickets in 24 matches.

After completing his post-graduation from the Ivy League, Netravalkar landed a lucrative job with Oracle. Saurabh never let his passion for the game die as he kept in touch with the sport even though he entered the techie world.

Notably, Oracle is the official title sponsor of Major League Cricket 2024, the second season of the franchise-based T20 league in the USA.
