KKR players were in awe of Shah Rukh Khan aura after the Qualifier 1 of the Indian Premier League. Shah Rukh Khan took a victory lap at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad after KKR demolished SRH to reach the final of the tournament. Speaking to the IPL’s official website, the KKR players revealed that they were pumped up to play the match after Shah Rukh Khan’s pep talk in the dressing room. The Kolkata players put in a spirited show against Pat Cummins’ side and won the match by 8 wickets.

After the match, Venkatesh Iyer told the IPL website that Shah Rukh Khan is not just a franchise owner but a mentor and an elder brother figure to several players in the team. Venkatesh said that Shah Rukh Khan’s presence around the team motivated KKR to do well in the match.

“I think it speaks volumes of the man that he is. We have seen him in the big screen, mesmerising people with his aura. But to not just be an owner of a franchise, but to be an elder brother figure for us, he guides us constantly,” Venkatesh Iyer told the IPL website.

“I think his pep talk not only lifted me, but for someone like Nitish Rana, who was dealing with an injury and to perform is a really big task. I think you will not be able to hear me now because he is here, but he is a great great franchise owner,” Iyer further added.

Shah Rukh Khan had put an arm around the KKR players when they were hurting after a home loss to PBKS in the IPL 2024. KKR had lost despite scoring over 260 runs, their worst bowling effort this season. After the game, Shah Rukh had gone to the dressing room and consoled the players.

ATTITUDE CHANGES AROUND SHAH RUKH: IYER

KKR captain Shreyas Iyer also spoke about the franchise owner and said that the team changes around Shah Rukh’s presence.

“His presence in the team gets the zest in the team environment. The attitude and approach of the team automatically changes, I think it is the perception over here (points to head) and you see, when the boys came to the field, everyone wanted to chip in with their contribution and everyone delivered,” Shreyas Iyer was elated after the team’s win.

With the win, KKR have qualified for the final of the Indian Premier League. They will play the winner of Qualifier 2 on 26 May, in Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium.
