Senior RCB batter and former captain Virat Kohli has revealed that he has not walked on the streets in India in the last few years. Speaking ahead of their final group stage game against CSK, Kohli spoke about the banes of popularity in the country and said that he really missed walking on the streets and shopping.
Speaking on Star Sports, Kohli said that whenever he would get out on the street, people would recognise him and that’s why he had stopped going out altogether. Kohli, one of the most followed athletes in the world said that given a chance, he would just like to take a walk in the West Delhi markets and roam around without people bothering him.
“If I could, I would not take a car, nor a scooty, I would just walk. I have not walked once in India (in recent times), and that is something that I miss so badly. In West Delhi, our go-to market was Jwala Heri, I would go there regularly. If I get a chance, I would just walk around without anyone bothering me. I would eat something, buy something, I don’t even remember when was the last time I walked on a road in India,” Virat Kohli said on Star Sports ahead of the CSK game.

The superstar cricketer had recently taken a personal break and had spent time with his family in England during the final months of his wife – Anushka Sharma’s pregnancy. Kohli had spoken about the experience and said that it was surreal to feel normal again with his wife and daughter away from the attention.
“We were not in the country. Just to feel normal for two months – for me, my family – it was a surreal experience. Couldn’t have been more grateful to God for the opportunity to spend time with the family. It’s an amazing experience to just be another person on the road and not be recognised,” Kohli had said.
